e waste computer recycling

There are many types of plastics and metal, more importantly, can be used in many commercial, residential, and industrial applications. They are composed of semi-synthetic and synthetic substances. They offer many advantages in terms of physical properties, resilience, and function. Let’s look at the computer parts you can recycle as well as e waste computer recycling for you.

Composition

The polymerization of vinyl chloride monomer is what makes poly vinyl (PVC). To increase its light and heat resistance properties, and to increase its flexibility, additional stabilizers or plasticizers can be added. PVC is suitable for many industrial applications because of these properties.

To make polyester, polymers are made by reacting dihydric alcohols and dibasic acid. Polyester also includes cutin, a naturally occurring substance, which is derived from the cuticles.

Properties

PVC is fire and water resistant. It is an odorless and amorphous powder. However, it discolors at higher temperatures than 80 degrees Celsius.

Polyester is extremely flammable and resistant to chemicals, wrinkles, shrinking, stretching, water damage, shrinking, stretching, and other factors. Polyester is resistant to mold, mildew, and other biological damages. It also retains its shape well even under stress.

Types

Flexible resins and rigid resins are the main types of poly vinyl chloride. Flexible resins can be flexible and contain a high percentage of plasticizers, such as dioctyl phthalate — DOP. Rigid resins can be more rigid and elastic than flexible resin PVC.

Polycarbonate (PET) and polyethylene terephthalate are the most popular types of polyester. Other types of polyesters include unsaturated fiberglass-reinforced polyesters, thermosetting polyesters and chemo setting polyesters.

Applications

The poly vinyl chloride is used for making clothing, flexible hoses and upholstery, as well as roofing/flooring membranes and insulation for electric cables. It also makes inflatable structures such as pools, waterbeds and toys.

Polyester is used to make synthetic fiber (that’s insulating and hydrophobic, wrinkle resistant), plastic bottles and power belting.

Safety

Vinyl chlorides, which include PVC, have been identified as human carcinogens (cancer-causing substances). The IARC (International Agency for Research on Cancer) classifies PVC as a category 1 carcinogen. PVC poisoning can cause dizziness, nausea, vomiting, swelling of the liver, weight loss, irritation to the throat, and eyes. It can affect the central nervous system, blood, lymphatic system, liver, central nervous systems, and blood.

Polyester is made up of styrene which is a dangerous solvent. It can cause irritation to the eyes, respiratory tract, and skin. Exercising for long periods can cause dizziness, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, liver and kidney damage, as well as depression. IARC has classified Styrene as a potential carcinogen for humans.

Precious Metals

Gold: This metal is used in printed circuit boards and cell phones. It also makes up computer chips (CPU), connectors, and fingers.

Silver: SIlver can be found in printed circuit boards and cell phones.

Platinum: This is the metal used in circuit boards and hard drives.

Palladium: This metal is used in mobile phones, hard drives and circuit board components, as well as capacitors.

Copper: Copper is used to heatsinks, wire cables, computer chips, printed circuit boards, and cell phones.

Nickel: Nickel is used to make circuit board components.

Tantalum: Tantalum can be used to make circuit boards and in some capacitors.

Cobalt: Cobalt can be included in hard drives.

Aluminum: Aluminum can be used in computer chips, printed circuit boards, hard drives, heat sinks, and computer chips.

Tin: Tin is used to make computer chips and printed circuit boards.

Zinc: Zinc can be used in printed circuit boards.

Neodymium: This is Neodymium, which is used in hard drives.

Electronic devices can contain significant amounts of precious metals. According to the EPA, for every 1 million cell phones that are recycled, you can obtain these amounts of precious metals.

  • Copper 35,274 lbs
  • 772 pounds silver
  • 75 pounds of gold
  • 33 lb palladium
  • You should look at recycling when looking at electronics. These computer components have the highest weight of precious metals.
    • Computer CPU’s (Processors).
    • Memory (RAM) and Circuit Fingers/ Connectors/ pins
    • Circuit Boards (Motherboard).
    • Cables/WIres
    • Hard drives
    • Computers as a Whole
    • Cell phones
